Actually, the Tilta MB-T12-Mx is a very special matte box. First of all, you attach the super-light carbon fiber matte box directly to the lens. This avoids using a clunky donut or light leakage. In addition, a rod adapter is not necessary, nor is a "swing-away" hinge system that does not benefit the weight.

The Tilta 4×5.65″ carbon fiber clamp-on matte box is available for the most common cinema lens sizes. Choose the right size for your cinema lens before ordering the lens. If necessary, use a caliper to measure the outer size, not the filter size.

If all that isn't enough, several clip-on backs are available so you can use the lens on cinema lenses with other diameters.

To be on the safe side, Tilta has included a 15mm rod adapter for “emergencies”

Oh, and the MB-T12-Mx has not one, not two, but three 4×5.65 filter trays.
