RS 3 Mini – Technical features

The DJI RS 3 Mini is more compact than the standard RS 3.

It has a lower weight of only 795 gram in portrait mode and 850 grams in horizontal shooting mode with a quick-release plate.

The RS 3 Mini is approx 40% smaller than the RS 3 and about 50% smaller than the heavy RS 3 Pro.

With its lower weight, the new DJI is an asset more portable than its brother, but the portability comes with a slightly lower payload. It can carry up to 2 kg, while the RS 3 Pro can carry up to 3 kg of equipment.

The new DJI addition uses DJIs third generation stabilization technology, the same technology found in the RS 3 Pro. The gimbal is designed for smooth, stable performance in a variety of situations, including handheld shooting from very low angles.

While supporting smaller payloads, the new RS 3 Mini can easily get popular full frame mirrorless camera support setups such as the Sony a7S III and Sony's FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM lens.

The stabilizer features a new double layer quick release plate. You can attach the plate directly to the vertical arm of the gimbal to shoot vertical video without additional accessories.

In addition to recording and photo capture controls, the new DJI product has a 1,4 ″ touchscreen for menu navigation and control over the settings. The gimbal has a directional joystick and a dial for focus or zoom.

Wireless shutter control via Bluetooth is supported via the RS3 Mini's record button, as long as you have a camera that is compatible with this functionality.

In addition, the RS 3 Mini has a integrated battery in the handle, which promises up to 10 hours of use. The stabilizer connects to DJI's Ronin app for time-lapse video shooting, track recording, and panorama shooting modes.
