The Tilta Nucleus-M (WLC-T03) wireless follow focus system is very popular with professional filmmakers. The affordable follow focus system from Tilta stands its ground in any wireless follow focus configuration.
Nucleus-M follow focus system
The Nucleus-M follow focus system is perfect if you work with a focus puller as a cameraman. The focus puller works remotely with the Tilta FIZ controller to control the focus, aperture and zoom. If you are a one-man band and are shooting from the shoulder, the handles of the Nucleus-M follow focus system allow you to control the focus and the aperture while simultaneously holding your camera firmly.
Tilta Nucleus-M use
You can use the Tilta Nucleus-M with all types of lenses. Cine lenses are already equipped with rings as standard that follow focus systems can use.
For photo lenses, there are separate photo lens adapters with the Nucleus-M that you attach to your lens.
The motors and control of the wireless follow focus system Nucleus-M work on the basis of a 2.4 Ghz WiFi connection, with which about 300 meters can be bridged. In the future Tilta wants to extend the distance to 2 kilometers so that the Nucleus-M can also be used for drone recordings.
Tilta Nucleus-M WLC-T03
The Tilta Nucleus-M WLC-T03 comes with a remote control for the focus puller, and the FIZ unit. The FIZ has a large handle-covered rotary knob with which a focus puller can control the sharpness. In addition to the large rotary knob on the front, the FIZ unit also contains controls such as aperture and zoom.
With the marking function, a distance can be set between which a focus must take place.
By default, the FIZ unit is set as 'master' to control the Nucleus-M (WLC-T03). The handles can take over the tasks of the FIZ unit by pressing the “function” button twice, making the handles the master.
The two included Tilta Nucleus-M handles can be mounted on almost any gimbal and/or rig. This allows the cameraman to control the focus, aperture, and zoom. Using the handles provides a lot of stability in the shots because you use both arms to hold the camera.
Nucleus-M video manual
Tilta has made a video manual for the Nucleus-M so that you can optimally use the wireless follow focus system. In the video tab you can see how you can connect the FIZ unit and the handles to the motors through EZ mode, and how you can adjust the calibration of photo lenses without hard stop.
