Maxon’s Spring 2024 Release
Maxon, a leading provider of professional creative tools for editors, filmmakers, and visual effects artists, has unveiled a significant update to its Maxon One subscription platform. With this spring 2024 release, Maxon offers motion designers, broadcasters, and VFX professionals an array of new features and tools to enhance creative workflows and boost production efficiency. Notably, these highlights include advancements in Cinema 4D, Redshift, and Red Giant software.
Cinema 4D 2024.4
To begin with, Cinema 4D, a premier 3D software for animation, sculpting, and rendering, now features the all-new Cinema 4D Particles system. This intuitive tool allows artists to create complex particle simulations like sparks, smoke trails, and explosions within Cinema 4D’s interface. Additionally, enhancements to core simulation features include an updated Connector Object for creating realistic chains and collapsing structures, improved aerodynamics for natural simulations, and workflow improvements like automatic object positioning in the Asset Browser and Property Transfer for quick settings copying.
Redshift 3.6.0
Moreover, Redshift, a popular GPU renderer, now includes Non-Photorealistic Rendering (NPR) tools for creating cartoon visuals with crisp outlines and cel-shading, ideal for animation and explainer videos. Furthermore, additional updates include support for AMD graphics cards on Windows, upgraded Standard Volume tools for detailed clouds, smoke, and fire, and alpha masking for area lights to enable creative lighting effects.
Red Giant 2024.2
In addition, Red Giant introduces Geo, a new tool for After Effects that allows for direct texturing, lighting, and cloning of 3D objects within the compositing software, eliminating the need to switch between After Effects and Cinema 4D. Finally, Maxon One subscribers also get access to the Capsules creative asset library, with the Spring 2024 update adding the Ivy Generator Scene Node for realistic, animated ivy and the Partition Modifier Scene Node for dynamic subdivision of models, making it easy to create realistic wood planks and fractured rock walls.
