The Tilta HDA-T02-V Hydra Alien Car Mounting System is a complete rig for taking stabilized shots from a car. Mount the extremely flexible Hydra in almost any desired position on the car. Think of the hood, roof, side or rear. The set consists of a combination of three suction cups and different dovetail plates. Configure the rig to fit the desired part of the car.

A camera, with or without a gimbal, can be mounted on the shock-absorbing arm to compensate mainly for vertical movements.

Expand the rig with a DJI Ronin RS 2, RS 3 or RS 3 Pro gimbal. The Hydra has a special adapter plate for this.

The Hydra Alien Car Mounting set comes with two V-mount battery plates to power the camera, gimbal and accessories.

A hard plastic case protects the Hydra during transport.

Ball Head Risers

The new Tilta Hydra Alien Ball Head Risers are a desirable addition to the popular Hydra Alien Car Mounting rig. It makes it possible to use the Hydra Alien with standard tripod heads. The Hydra Alien Ball Head Riders are available in different heights and tripod head diameters.

Heights: 100, 150 and 200mm

Tripod head diameters: 75 and 100mm

So you don't use the DJI Ronin gimbal with the Ball Head Risers, nor do you use the Hydra Alien's absorption arm.

Safety tips

We strongly advise users of the Tilta Hydra Alien Car Mount to secure the Hydra. Use a trio of two-piece tension straps with pointed hooks and a ratchet. The Hydra Alien comes with one strap, but that does not provide enough security.

Connect one side of the strap to the Hydra and the other side to a part of the car. This can be a wheel arch, door handle, bumper or something similar. Not your windshield wiper.

Socrates has a special strap Developed with a large hook for a wheel arch, for example, and comes standard with a rubber mat.

Avoid damaging the paint of the car and use a rubber mat between the hook and the car. Wrap the ratchet in a rubber mat, seat belt cover or a combination thereof to prevent paint damage.
